| Minestrone Soup Mix 1/2 c. dried onion flakes 1/2 c. dried celery flakes 1/4 c. dried parsley flakes 2 tbsp. dried whole marjoram 1 tsp. garlic powder 1 tsp. freshly ground pepper 1/2 c. beef flavored bouillon granules 1 lb. dried navy beans 1 lb. dried kidney beans 2 c. elbow macaroni Combine first 8 ingredients; divide into 4 gift packages. Add 2 tablespoons bouillon granules to each package. Label and seal. Combine navy beans and kidney beans; divide into 4 gift packages. Label and seal. Place 1/2 cup macaroni into 4 gift packages. Label and seal. Present 1 package herb mix, 1 package bean mix and 1 package macaroni with recipe for minestrone soup. Yield: 4 gift packages. Attach to Jar: To Make Minestrone Soup: Cover beans with water and soak overnight. Drain beans and rinse. Saute 1/2 pound hot Italian Sausage or ground beef in a large pan, add beans, 4cups water, 1 cup tomato sauce and the seasoning packet, and bring to simmering. Cook, covered for one hour. Add 2 cups sliced vegetables such as cabbage, green beans, onions, green pepper, carrots or yellow squash. Next, add macaroni and 1 tsp. salt. Cook, covered for 20 more minutes until vegetables are tender. *For vegetarian-style leave out meat and use more veggies |
