Cooking and family life were always on top of Judy’s personal list of things she wanted her life to include. When she met her future husband Dan, they were both enrolled at a community college, each motivated by a future dream to own their own restaurant. Judy recalls, “The first dinner Dan ever made for me was meatloaf, and things were going pretty well until the food was served. While the meatloaf looked nice on the outside, it was pretty pink of the inside Talk about a first-date ice-breaker. There we were – giggling over his beautiful (uncooked) meatloaf, which we carefully ate around the pink parts. We had such a great laugh over that little mishap that months later when Dan proposed, he hid my Scott Kay diamond engagement ring in a meatloaf he’d prepared for my family (this meatloaf was thoroughly cooked!). It was adorably romantic having the people I love the most right there as I looked down on my plate and discovered that gorgeous ring hidden under the tomato sauce!”
Let’s face it ladies, guys who cook are downright sexy. Most women agree, too. There’s just something wholesomely appealing about a man in an apron flipping omelets for his kids, flawlessly, grilling meat to mouthwatering perfection, or dicing veggies with flourish and flair.
Culinary is popular right now because during lean economic times, people turn to food for comfort and family meals are more frequently served at home rather than at restaurants. In fact, dining at home has never been more popular, and the cost of date-night in vs. date night out, makes for a romantic evening you can share with your spouse after the kids go to sleep – you can watch a movie after your meal. After all, attitudes and interest change when you have a family of your own.
